An extremely hardy and bright plant for bedding display, hanging
baskets or pot culture, petunias will flower for many months under
hot conditions. In northern frost free areas, the flowering season
can be extended throughout the year.
Sow seed in a box of seed raising soil with just a fine cover of soil.
Transplant small seedlings to punnets or boxes as soon as they
are large enough to handle.
Prepare the garden bed by digging in old stable manure a few
weeks before planting.
Apply plant starter fertiliser before planting the 5cm high seedlings
25cm apart. For container grown plants include a slow release
fertiliser in the potting mixture.
